The North Shore Baseball Association is a not for profit, volunteer run, chartered association. We are looking for a number of motivated individuals within the community to assist in the seamless execution of the baseball season. These volunteer roles do not require previous experience, just a willingness to learn, demonstrate reliability and a passion to give back to the community. Many hands make light work for all and provide exceptional opportunities for our children and youth ball players.
Volunteer Roles
All Coordinator roles are invited to attend monthly Board Meetings (third Thursday of each month) to provide updates as required.
5U & 7U Division Coordinators – FILLED
The Coordinator for each division will be responsible for forming the teams, scheduling practices, game times and any tournaments and will assist with ongoing logistics for the division during the spring season. They will also be responsible for communicating information from the league to each team and vice versa by attending a one-hour board meeting once a month via Zoom. Forming the teams will start late February and be completed by the start of Spring Break. The Coordinators will review the registration forms and identify Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches and/or recruit coaches as necessary. The Coordinators, will also work with the uniform and equipment Coordinators to provide them with numbers of players on each team. This position is suitable for an organized individual who is comfortable with spreadsheets and email communication. No baseball knowledge is required.
5U & 7U Equipment Manager
The Equipment Manager will be responsible for providing equipment for each team working together with the Equipment Coordinator. They will have access to the Chris Zuehlke or Eldon Storage room. In late January, they will need to take stock of equipment and request to order new equipment for the Season to the Equipment Coordinator. They will work with the Equipment Box Managers to see what may be needed at each field. They will be the contact person if any teams need more equipment throughout the season. This person will also be responsible for setting up a time at the beginning of the Season for coaches to pick up equipment as well at the end of the Season to return.
5U & 7U Equipment Box Managers
We are looking for 5 people to be responsible for the equipment box at one of these fields (Larson, Brooksbank gravel, Brooksbank grass, Cleveland, Canyon Heights). They will work with the Equipment Manager to let them know what is needed. This person will regularly check the box and update it as needed throughout the season. There will be assistance from the previous season’s manager.
9U Division Coordinator – FILLED

They will also be responsible for communicating information from the league to each team and vice versa by attending a one-hour board meeting once a month via Zoom. The Coordinator will review the registration forms and identify Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches and/or recruit coaches as necessary. Coach Development Coordinator – FILLED
The Coach Development Coordinator works with members of the Executive Team to ensure appropriate communication with volunteer coaches (all divisions) regarding coach selection process, and coach training requirements (varies by division). This position is best suited for an individual who has a background and/or interest in coaching, teaching and/or player development.
Concession Coordinator (Chris Zuehlke)
The Concession Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the concession stand (located at Chris Zuehlke Memorial Park) is ready for game day service and sales. This includes purchasing and stocking inventory and with the assistance of the Volunteer Coordinator, and scheduling concession volunteers. This position is suitable for an adult, young adult or teen experienced in food service**. Access to a car is necessary for delivery of supplies. Food Safe certification (or willingness to obtain) is a requirement. For young adults or teens, this may be an opportunity for regular hours as the primary concession staff, with additional management responsibilities working closely with the association President. A great resume builder for Grade 11 or 12 students!
Equipment Coordinator – FILLED
The Equipment Coordinator is responsible for ordering, allocating and tracking equipment and supplies for the season. Works with the Vice President and Division Coordinators for distribution to coaches and/or managers of each team. This position is best suited for an adult individual who is organized and has solid baseball knowledge.
Field Coordinator – FILLED
The Field Coordinator is responsible for working with the Vice President and President, as well as an experienced outgoing field coordinator, to ensure that the NSBA fields are maintained in playable condition. This includes the following tasks: check field whiting levels, check grass conditions, summarize issues for communication to municipalities by the President, organize work crews for appropriate volunteer repairs. This role is suitable for an adult who is comfortable with physical labour and who has a vehicle with capacity for carrying equipment. There may be an opportunity for more than one field coordinator to divide up the role by division or location.
Jamboree Coordinator
The Jamboree Coordinator will be responsible for the end of the year Jamboree for the 5U and 7U team. They will work within a budget and hire bouncy castles, food etc. They will work with the division Coordinators to help with games on that day. This person will recruit volunteers if needed. This position can be shared.
Opening Day Coordinator
The Opening Day Coordinator is responsible for setting up opening day in early April. This includes working with a group of volunteers to organize BBQ, Pictures, entertainment as well as the Opening Day Ceremonies. This position will be suitable for an organized individual that works well in a leadership role. This position will receive help from the board members as to help with the details of the day.
Sponsorship Coordinator
The Sponsorship Coordinator works closely with The Board of Directors to identify, recruit and secure sponsorship opportunities within the community in exchange for advertising and promotional opportunities within the association.
Umpire Coordinator – FILLED
The Umpire Coordinator working closely with the Umpire in Chief, the Umpire Coordinator will look after the scheduling and communicating with the umpires for upcoming league games. Umpire scheduling is done electronically, using “Assignr”. This position is suitable for an adult who enjoys working with children to learn to manage schedules and professional attitudes. Knowledge of umpiring is a strong asset.
Volunteer Coordinator
The Volunteer Coordinator works closely with other coordinators and subcommittees in NSBA to ensure the appropriate number of volunteers are recruited and scheduled to assist with special events (such as Opening Day, year-end Jamboree, and certain tournaments) and the smooth execution of the baseball season.
Social Media Coordinator – FILLED
The Social Media Coordinator oversees the league’s digital presence, engaging the community, and promoting the brand across platforms like Instagram, X (Twitter), Facebook, and TikTok. Responsibilities include creating, scheduling, and managing content such as registration information, fundraisers (e.g. Pink Socks fundraiser), game/team highlights, and any other promotional campaigns. The Coordinator interacts with the community, responds to comments, and monitors trends to boost engagement and grow the audience. The role could also involve tracking analytics to measure the success of campaigns and identify opportunities for improvement. Creativity, knowledge of baseball culture, and expertise in social media tools and trends are a plus.
Uniform/Jersey Coordinator – FILLED
The Uniform/Jersey Coordinator manages all aspects of team uniform logistics to ensure players have appropriate, good-quality jerseys for practices, games, and events. Responsibilities include ordering, inventory management, and distribution of jerseys for players and coaches, maintaining accurate records of sizes and customizations. The Coordinator collaborates with suppliers to ensure timely production and delivery and manages a budget related to uniform procurement. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication with coaches, players, and vendors are essential.
Tournament Coordinator
The Tournament Coordinator will be responsible for finding tournaments that the teams can join during the season.
**A small stipend payment may be available for these roles if filled by a youth volunteer requiring work experience.
