North Shore Baseball Association (NSBA) is seeking new adult and youth umpires for the 2023 season. If you are interested, please read below for more details. Previous or current Little League umpires are welcome to sign up as well!
The BC Baseball Umpires Association is offering training for all new and returning umpires in an online forum this year, as well as in-person mechanics and positioning clinics. In order to register for a clinic, you must sign up on the BCBUA website (https://bcbua.ca) and pay an annual membership fee which is determined by your age. You must then go to the “Clinics” page on the BCBUA website and register for the Level 1 clinic (for all new umpires), or Level 2 clinic (certain returning umpires). Online clinics details can be found here: https://bcbua.ca/2023-online-clinics-are-now-available-for-registration .
If you are an experienced Little League umpire or have other relevant experience, please reach out to umpirecoordinator@northshorebaseball.ca in order to determine whether you might pursue an accelerated path including completion of a Level 2 clinic.
NSBA will reimburse the BCBUA membership fees for any umpires who complete at least 5 assignments in 2023. Keep in mind that you must be at least one age-group older than the games you will be officiating (for example, 18U aged or older umpires will be assigned to 15U games, etc.), and we need adult umpires to officiate any 18U baseball games. Umpiring is a great way to stay involved in the game and improve rule knowledge for both adults and youth!
There are multiple ongoing clinics now through the end of April 2023. Additional clinics are likely to be added in April. If you are unable to attend the NSBA clinics, you can attend a nearby clinic in order to get the practice on the field. Please complete the registration process on the BCBUA website and register for a clinic which works for you.
