Girls Baseball – Upcoming Events for All Ages & Skill Levels

May 5, 2023

Message from Baseball BC Girls Program:

We have some exciting opportunities hosted by Baseball BC coming up that we’d love to see representation from your associations at! Hoping this email serves as a reminder of some great work being done throughout the province in the world of girls’ and women’s baseball.

HIGH PERFORMANCE:

On the High Performance side of things, we have Regional ID camps coming up in your region. This is the first step in the tryout process for the Team BC Aces at the 14U, 16U, and 21U age groups.

Pathway to Playing on Team BC Aces:

Step One – Attend a Regional Identification Camp
Baseball BC will hold Regional Identification Camps throughout the province. Athletes must attend one of these camps. The purpose of the Regional Identification Camps is to select athletes for the Provincial Camp.

Step Two – Attend the Provincial Camp
Players will meet our team of provincial coaches, 21U Emily Fournier, 16U Stacy Fournier, 14U Kristy Watson, 14U Liz Gilder, who will lead an intensive four-day event used to select athletes for the provincial teams.

Step Three – Play on the Provincial Team
12-16 athletes will be chosen per team. However, this year BC is hosting the Westerns, so we will be entering two teams at the 14U level and choosing up to 32 players. A minimum of one team practice prior to championship will take place. Practice details and team expectations will be communicated by your coach after selection.

GRASSROOTS:

For Grassroots, we have the Second Annual Amanda Asay Jamboree coming up on May 28! While associations all over BC work hard to grow the game, we hope to provide an opportunity for girls involved in those programs to come together for a fun jamboree-style tournament. This is a fun-focused day of games and skills for girls ages 7-9 and 10-12. We are currently looking for all-girls teams to participate in the Jamboree. Details can be found below. Registration for the Jamboree, as well as other Fun Festivals & Instructional Leagues can be found here: https://baseball.bc.ca/girls

Amanda Asay Jamboree 2023 Registration

  • Age Divisions: 7-9 & 10-12
  • Date: May 28, 2023
  • Time: 9:00AM – 6:00PM
  • Fee: $300 per team

Join Baseball BC and BC Girls Baseball at the Second Annual Amanda Asay Jamboree! Celebrating girls baseball and bringing everyone together were two things our baseball friend Amanda did very well. The purpose of this Jamboree is to continue that legacy and provide a space for young women and girls to thrive. While associations all over British Columbia work hard to grow the game, we hope to provide an opportunity for girls involved in those programs to come together for a fun jamboree-style tournament. Each team is guaranteed 2 x 1-hour games that are tailored to the needs of the athletes. Players need a tee? We’ve got it. Some ready to throw gas from the mound? We’re ready for it! We can’t wait to see many new faces and share our passion for the game of baseball. Speaking of passion, there will be Team BC and Team Canada members in attendance helping out our young participants. A 1.5 hour skills festival is also included for each participant.

So, you have an all-girls team ready to register? A couple of things to note. Our age groups are 7-9 and 10-12, which may be different from some leagues you play in. Please keep this in mind when you are forming your teams, and be sure to register for the correct division! Each team registration will include 12 Amanda Asay Jamboree tshirts, but your roster can be larger. Once you have registered and paid, we will reach out to get your tshirt sizes and number you’d like to order. Any tshirts above the 12 included will be $25 each. There will be a deadline for these tshirts, so we can make sure they arrive on time! Feel free to order for family and friends, too.

Festival Only Registration (for Individuals not participating in Jamboree games)

  • Ages: 6+
  • Date: May 28, 2023
  • Time: 1:00PM – 2:30PM
  • Fee: $30

We would appreciate you sharing the above information with all girls currently playing in your association. All of Baseball BC’s girls programming (both High Performance and Grassroots) is designed to be supplementary to participation in local associations such as yours.

Thank you and hope to see you at the ball field soon!
