Hello NSBA Parents, Coaches and Volunteers,
Believe it or not the 2023 baseball season is fast approaching, and as we prepare we wanted to make you aware of this year’s BC Minor Coaches Conference (February 10-12, 2023 in Langley, BC) and some free coach training sessions (the entire library is being covered February 1st thru 9th) that are available for conference attendees through BC Minor Baseball.
NSBA and BC Minor Baseball have been working towards mandatory coach certifications (especially at the 13U, 15U, and 18U divisions) and this is the perfect opportunity to get ahead of certification before coaching activities ramp up. Last year was the first year of enforcement, and across all organizations who are part of BC Minor, there is an early push to get coaches trained. Believe me from experience it is much easier to get them started in the winter and avoid the pressure of taking courses in season.
Even if you are not currently certain that you are a coach this year, it is highly recommended that potential coaches (especially at the 5U-11U divisions) start on their path towards certification. Also from experience I can say that knocking out 1 or 2 courses a year in the early ages really helps lighten the load when you reach the 13U and above levels.
Not to mention there is a lot of value that helps coaches do a great job for our athletes.
