NSBA 13U & 15U Families,
Please see below for information about our 13U and 15U single season tryout and coach selection process. There is also preliminary information about house balancing below.
AAA / AA Coaching:
For the 15U AAA, North Shore Baseball is pleased to announce that it has selected Jason Pilkington as the head coach for this team. Jason brings extensive professional coaching and playing experience and will be a great resource for this team. Jason will also be working as the Pitching Coordinator for the league as a whole. Keep an eye out for pitching development opportunities throughout the season!
The AAA coach for 13U will be selected by un-conflicted members of the league’s Executive Committee. Any volunteer coach will be selected after preliminary evaluation results are received from the independent evaluators to ensure that coaching factors do not impact player selection.
The AA coaches for both 15U and 13U may also be selected at that time but this may also be deferred until after AAA team selection based on the player pools. As with prior years, we focus on placing players in the right tier before finalizing coaches for later tiers.

Coach Training:
Coaches in BC Minor are required to undergo training. Requirements for 2026 are detailed here:

13U & 15U AAA/AA Tryouts:
Tryouts will be as follows:
- February 8 & 9 @ Inside Performance (evening)
- February 14 @ Windsor Bubble (13U 10 AM – 4 PM; 15U 4 PM – 6 PM)
- February 15 @ Windsor Bubble (13U 10 AM – 2 PM; 15U 2 PM – 6 PM)
Specific times will be confirmed in a subsequent email which will come from your division coordinator and will depend in part on your group and declared positions. You must be registered to attend the tryout. Registration can be completed here: https://northshorebaseball.ca/registration/
Team Formation Policy:

Tryouts will rely primarily on independent assessors with assistance from league executives and coaches from other divisions in order to avoid conflict prior to selection of coaches. Team selection for each division will be managed by a Selection Committee, comprised entirely of independent individuals. Division selection committee members will include directors and experienced coaches, and will also be overseen by a Selection Oversight Committee which will not make direct selection decisions but is responsible for ensuring the selection process is consistent with league standards.
Rosters for AAA teams at each tier are anticipated to be finalized by the end of February, but may be completed sooner. Final rosters will be approved by the Executive and signed off by the President prior to communication to players.
Following completion of the AAA selection, the AA coaches will be selected and will then have the option of undertaking an additional tryout, if needed, or relying on the evaluations from the first three sessions.
House Team (A) Balancing:
Balancing for the 13U and 15U A (house) teams will take place during late February or early March, subject to availability of facilities. Please watch for a future email.
Conflict of Interest:
Both our coach and team selection policies are informed by our conflict of interest policy which can be found here: https://northshorebaseball.ca/conflict-of-interest-policy/ . An example of a conflict would be the decision to appoint a head coach in a division where an executive has a family member playing. A conflicted executive would then recuse from the head coach appointment discussion. For clarity, this does NOT require executives to remove themselves from consideration as coaches. The Executive delegates selection of assistant coaches to the appointed head coach.
